Following a successful Phase 1 completion, Countryside Partnerships have rewarded us with The Tors Phase 2A. Phase 2A started its construction around the Christmas period and we have already completed digging all 58 plot foundations and the 2500m² of road has been laid. This site helped us display our groundworks expertise and win the Countryside Partnerships Contractor of the Year award.

Pebble Beach, Seaton, Devon
SHC are continuing work with Bovis at Seaton we are currently on the final phases 8, 9 & 10 which comprises of 56 units including terraced, semi-detached and detached plots.
Initial works saw thousands of tons of sand imported by boat in order to raise levels ready for construction works to begin. Part of SHC’s contract is to complete technical surcharging works to ensure that the ground is suitable for bearing the specialist insulated and reinforced raft foundations on.
On phase 8, 9 & 10 SHC are constructing the plot substructures as ’Future Founds’ which is a type of insulated foundation system where the foundations and ground floor of a building are fully insulated. It’s a trenchless system which arrives on site as a fully engineered ready-made formwork that fits together to create a fully insulated concrete structural foundation.

Sherford is a new town being developed to the east of Plymouth, Devon, transforming over 1200 acres of farmland and rolling countryside.
Vistry has currently released Phase 2D to SHC which consists of 207 units.
Phase 2D has a mixture of different foundation styles due to the variable ground conditions. There are traditional strip foundations, piled foundations and ground beam foundations.
Strip foundations are a continuous strip of concrete that serves to spread the weight of a load-bearing wall across an area of soil. Piled foundations are formed by long columnar elements typically made from steel or reinforced concrete & Ground beam foundations are beams that are designed to span between pad foundations, piles and so on. In this instance they are laid on top of trench fill concrete.
Finished parcels are complimented by expensive paving, planting and street furniture all of which SHC play a part in their installation.
